Role: Solaris Administration

Location: Santa Clara, CA

ONSITE/Fulltime

Responsibilities:

• Must have 6+ years' experience is required
• Adhering to SLAs
• ITIL Processes awareness and adhering to
• Reporting to the Track Lead / Team Lead
• Helping team members in case of Issues/Technical Problems
• Handling tickets / requests
• Troubleshooting technical issues
• Ensuring that the processes are adhered to
• Understanding of Multi-geo support environment
• Responsible for successful completion of Installation, configuration and migration
• Ensure maximum uptime according to the SLA
• Responsible for building / maintaining a test environment
• Improves and maintains customer and employee satisfaction
• Implementing new technologies and design changes
• Implementing Backup/Restoration Strategy for 24x7 operation support
• Applying patches/upgrades to maintain security level
• Assist in implementation of Data centre consolidation
• Perform H/W & performance monitoring and implement recommendations
• Day-To-Day reporting tasks
• Vendor co-ordination & follow-up

Technical Requirements:

• Installing, configuring and maintaining Oracle Sparc and x64 servers
• Manage File System
• Patch and package administration
• Open Boot Prom Management
• Oracle Solaris Boot procedure and SMF
• User Administration
• Managing Network Interface
• ZFS file system Administration
• Process Management
• Oracle Solaris 10 Installation
• Managing Swap space and crash dump
• Day to day administration task NFS, AutoFS and naming services like DNS, NIS, LDAP..etc
• Oracle Solaris 10 Zones Administration
• Knowledge on backup software (Netbackup/commvault/Tivoli/Legato)
• Oracle Solaris 10 Advanced Installation using Jumpstart and Flash
• Operating System upgrade (Live upgrade)
• Understanding of backup methodology (Full Incremental)
• Storage Multipathing (DMP,MPXIO,Powerpath)
• Network Multipathing (IPMP/Link Aggregation)
• Understanding of storage basic (DAS/NAS/SAN)
• Oracle Solaris Volume Manager Administration
• Veritas Volume Manager Administration
• Understanding of HA cluster Suite (Sun Cluster/Veritas Cluster Suite)
• Oracle Sun Cluster and Veritas Cluster Fundamentals

Soft Skills:

• Excellent communication and conversation skills (Verbal and Written)
• Good documentation skills
• Good working knowledge of MS OFFICE (Including MS Project and Visio)
• Should have great customer handling skills
• Able to handle unforeseen situations
• High level of acceptance
• Can drive HCL’s value and its methodology

Other Skills / Experience:

• Worked on Production systems
• Corporate Training Experience
• Experience of handling batches on Solaris, Veritas

Years of Experience

• Relevant: Minimum 9 yrs in Solaris Administration/Support

Desired Certifications

• 1Z0822 Oracle Certified Solaris 11 Professional

Compensation and Benefits

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to company policies.
